Are de Buyer Copper pans made in France?

Yes, all our Inocuivre and Prima Matera pans are made in France, in our own factory located in the beautiful region of Vosges. The de Buyer factory has been in operation since 1830, and mixes tradition and state-of-the art technology.

What is the difference between Inocuivre and Prima Matera?

Besides the difference in style, Prima Matera is specifically designed to work with all cooking surfaces including induction, thanks to a magnetic stainless-steel layer that has been added to the bottom of each pan or pot. Our Inocuivre line doesn’t have this bottom for induction stovetops. The Inocuivre line offers different styles of handles, made either of brass or iron.

What is de Buyer copper cookware made of?

Both our Prima Matera and our Inocuivre lines are made of 90% copper, and of 10% stainless steel for the inner surface. While it is the best heat conductor of all materials, copper can create reactions with certain foods. This is why our copper cookware is lined with high quality stainless steel. The handles come in different materials: cast stainless steel, brass or iron.

What makes de Buyer copper cookware different from others?

Our copper cookware is true to its name since it contains 90% copper. Many cookware brands on the market actually use less than 10% copper in their “copper” cookware lines, mostly as a plating for the outside look.

Can I use all types of utensils with my copper pans, including metal ones?

Although you can use metal objects in both Prima Matera and Inocuivre, use them with caution, so you don’t scratch the stainless-steel surface of your pan. We recommend using other types of utensils such as wood or silicon.

How can I keep my copper pans clean and shiny?

We recommend using our “Copper Cleaner” polishing paste, sold on our website. It is easy to use and will keep your copper cookware looking beautiful and shiny indefinitely. Use it to prevent tarnishing, and for normal upkeep of your copper cookware. You can also embrace the natural patina that you will get over time.
